Nexus Arts presents the Interplay Performance Series, which is the culmination of a year-long artistic development program for culturally and linguistically diverse contemporary musicians.
This year, Nexus has worked closely with 8 incredible musicians and bands, building their artistic practice and creative networks here in Adelaide.
Throughout this four-part concert series, you will be treated to a diverse range of musical genres, from Japanese traditional music to Colombian funk; from pop to the Iranian santur.
Each artist will present a 45-minute set of original music, with two artists each night, giving you a musical experience like no other. Welcome to Interplay!

Gene Phoa is an Adelaide-born singer, songwriter and indie/alt-rock artist of Indonesian-Chinese descent. Inspired by elements of indie, alternative, rock and pop, Gene pairs a luminous voice with infectious hooks, rhythmic guitar and anthemic storytelling to create modern yet meaningful music.
San Ureshi, which means “Joy of the Trio”, experiment with various cultures, soundscapes and textures, breaking boundaries with their unique and dynamic compositions. The trio features music by Zhao Liang (Guzheng-Chinese harp), David Dai (Erhu-Chinese violin), and Satomi Ohnishi (Percussion), exploring the line where tradition and expression collide.
